PURPLEXUS TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Pharmaceutical
Throughout production, transportation, and storage, medications, which can be quite costly, must be closely monitored for temperature exposure. Any exposure to or suspicion of exceeding the desired temperature range may result in product rejection and pharmaceutical waste.
Example
Development of a blister sensor
Purplexus designed a sensor for a pharmaceutical company to reduce waste in their assembly line. The machine that seals medication in blisters often experiences time-outs, causing temperature spikes that can affect the medication, leading to batch rejection and waste. The company needed a sensor with specific requirements:
- Accuracy of 0.1°C
- High-temperature resistance (+80°C)
- Sampling rate of 50 Hz
- Fit for a small blister opening (Ø 12.4 mm)
Purplexus developed a tiny sensor, which fits into the blister and monitors temperature fluctuations during production, helping to minimize waste.
